True Blue

I’m not the apple of your eye.
I never have been.
On the contrary, every attempt to get close to you
Has been met with your contempt and lies.

Maybe it’s to spare how I feel;
I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.
I can’t conceal what I try and hide.
Gotten the raw end of the deal again,
‘Cus I feel broken inside.

You’re all wrapped up in white gold with him,
Your smile tells the tale.
If only you knew the truth of what’s real,
You’d see beyond the age old veil.

It’s not just the art of lust with us,
It’s the real deal, true blue.
If you’d start reading my mind,
You’d know all I’ve saved in my heart for you.

A bit of confidence I could gather,
Muster up the courage to tell you.
Am I not getting through?
‘Cus I’m the one you should be paying attention to.

All the other guys are distractions wrapped up in nice packaging.
When are you going to see that you breathe for me?
I’m the real deal, true blue.
Tell the other boys that it’s over and you’re through.

I’m seen as a modern James Dean,
Saccharine dream, even in my youth.
We’ve got nothing but time even though I’m lone.
So tell me what I want to hear, and say you’ll be mine.
This is your cue.

I’m hanging onto your words,
Off the edge of a cliff.
An element of mystery spun like Agatha Christie;
Where I fall is no longer up to me.

About humblefoot

Kyle Fisher (who often uses the alias Logan Rowley online and in his writing) has been enjoying writing since he was just 8 years old. His first formal publication was at the age of 13. He is now a spiritualist and openly queer author, perpetually searching for inspiration to create and learn more about the world around him. He is always drawn to the simplicity and uniqueness that life has to offer. He doesn’t identify with labels or socially constructed ideas about how the world should be. He believes that the world is your oyster, and that we all project our own destinies with the thoughts we choose to harbour about the universe. He is an idealistic, spiritualistic hippie who is just trying to find his place in this world, crafting each word to leave his mark, and promote love and equality among all people.
