This Town’s Ghost

Everyone knows
I’m this town’s ghost.
Live in aether, life bequeather;
Hasty to quash the flame.
But I’m transparent just the same.

Beneath the veil of darkness,
There’s nothing but black.
And now I’m too far gone to find my own way back.

I don’t follow conventions
In my alternate dimension;
The quintessence of the world,
A fantasy, as you infer.
I need an intervention.

If my intentions were pure,
Surely I’d have set fire to the earth.
But I’m not so sure anymore,
Not sure what I’ve been looking for.

So I just haunt this town
Making scary sounds.
But now I want to be found.
Can you hear me if I speak clearly?
I’m out here on my own.

I know we’re all just walking each other home,
But the lights go out one by one as I walk by;
I’m dead but breathing for the time being.
I’ve tried to be a friend to most.
And yet I don’t know why I’m still this town’s ghost.

About humblefoot

Kyle Fisher (who often uses the alias Logan Rowley online and in his writing) has been enjoying writing since he was just 8 years old. His first formal publication was at the age of 13. He is now a spiritualist and openly queer author, perpetually searching for inspiration to create and learn more about the world around him. He is always drawn to the simplicity and uniqueness that life has to offer. He doesn’t identify with labels or socially constructed ideas about how the world should be. He believes that the world is your oyster, and that we all project our own destinies with the thoughts we choose to harbour about the universe. He is an idealistic, spiritualistic hippie who is just trying to find his place in this world, crafting each word to leave his mark, and promote love and equality among all people.
