A stranger fell in love today.
His heart skipped a beat.
His limbs tingled,
As he started down the foreign street.

His vision blurred,
His mind a whirl,
Yet he still knew
She was his girl.

Kind sir,
I’ve got just what you need.
Pulchritude by the bag,
In exchange for a kind deed.

No and thank you, madam.
I’ll be on my way.
I can do this;
I’ll be okay.

The woman pressed on,
She was dark and urbane,
He wanted to trust her,
But didn’t know her name.

So she tossed him a sack of gold,
A burden of endless wealth;
His eyes twinkled
And his mouth watered.

Bring me mistresses,
Vanity unknown;
Bring me lust, liquor,
hash, and a ticket far from home.

He nodded and without plead;
He set out on his way.
He knew he’d find it all someday.
He’d have it all someday.

Cupidity and stupidity;
Wants and needs.
And yet I’m still amazed
By ignorance and greed.

A stranger fell in love today.
He was seen transfixed by the mirror.
His mind all a whirl;
His vision blurred.
But he just wasn’t sure.

As he returned down the familiar street,
His limbs tingled;
His heart skipped a beat.
A stranger fell in love today,
But his world ran away.

Lust burned out.
Looks faded.
Liquor ran dry.
Hash turned to ash;
Tickets were lost and cashed.

The stranger became a stranger
To who he thought would become his wife.
A stranger fell in love today.
But he also lost his life.

About humblefoot

Kyle Fisher (who often uses the alias Logan Rowley online and in his writing) has been enjoying writing since he was just 8 years old. His first formal publication was at the age of 13. He is now a spiritualist and openly queer author, perpetually searching for inspiration to create and learn more about the world around him. He is always drawn to the simplicity and uniqueness that life has to offer. He doesn’t identify with labels or socially constructed ideas about how the world should be. He believes that the world is your oyster, and that we all project our own destinies with the thoughts we choose to harbour about the universe. He is an idealistic, spiritualistic hippie who is just trying to find his place in this world, crafting each word to leave his mark, and promote love and equality among all people.
