Ottawa

Ottawa,
You know I want ya.
Your name beckons me to salvation.
I don’t need no invitation.
I’m in love,
It’s no exaggeration.

I’ll hit the road,
Drive to the Senate,
Meet up with you,
Talk to your friends;
Meet your lieutenant.

I’ll get lost in your eyes,
I’ll see through to it all.
It’s just you and me, baby,
Fuck them all.

The crows will caw,
And they will see,
You and me,
Without friends, but endless scrutiny.

I can shut out all my friends,
I can draw big beating hearts,
I can do what I want;
Because I love him.
It’s not that hard;
I just play the victim card.

He tells me he loves me,
He yells at my friends,
We always tell each other,
It’ll never end.

But love is a fickle friend,
It doesn’t need a reason,
To kick you while you’re down,
To highlight your treason.

If you think friends are a waste of time,
You better get in line,
Because by the time you figure this one out,
There’ll be no one left to hear you out.

If friends are forever,
Forever just got a lot shorter.

About humblefoot

Kyle Fisher (who often uses the alias Logan Rowley online and in his writing) has been enjoying writing since he was just 8 years old. His first formal publication was at the age of 13. He is now a spiritualist and openly queer author, perpetually searching for inspiration to create and learn more about the world around him. He is always drawn to the simplicity and uniqueness that life has to offer. He doesn’t identify with labels or socially constructed ideas about how the world should be. He believes that the world is your oyster, and that we all project our own destinies with the thoughts we choose to harbour about the universe. He is an idealistic, spiritualistic hippie who is just trying to find his place in this world, crafting each word to leave his mark, and promote love and equality among all people.
