I “Love” You

So few words,
Such strong meaning,
Used so often,
Can wear out the feeling.

Love is greedy,
Blinding and consuming,
To the weak and the needy
Will the merciful ever find mercy?
It’s unnecessary controversy.

Lust is red hot,
Everything’s okay,
Then suddenly it’s not,
I was infatuated,
Now I’m susceptible and degraded.

Sex is overrated,
Sex is demanding,
Now you’re humiliated,
And there’s no understanding
He’s still jaded,
But there’s nothing you can do,
The “love” has faded.

Wrap yourself around me,
Whisper in my ear,
“Baby, take my virginity.”
Tell me you love me,
It’s all cold and fake,
I can’t tell the difference,
God, give me a break.

Why can’t I live,
It’s been a while,
Yet, now it’s hard to give,
No one there,
To pretend they care,
I’m forced to fake a smile.

If it’s the end,
This relationship cannot mend,
I won’t attack,
Because in the end you’ll come crawling back.

About humblefoot

Kyle Fisher (who often uses the alias Logan Rowley online and in his writing) has been enjoying writing since he was just 8 years old. His first formal publication was at the age of 13. He is now a spiritualist and openly queer author, perpetually searching for inspiration to create and learn more about the world around him. He is always drawn to the simplicity and uniqueness that life has to offer. He doesn’t identify with labels or socially constructed ideas about how the world should be. He believes that the world is your oyster, and that we all project our own destinies with the thoughts we choose to harbour about the universe. He is an idealistic, spiritualistic hippie who is just trying to find his place in this world, crafting each word to leave his mark, and promote love and equality among all people.
